Perhaps God's Truth and the Word he sent forth into the world? There is also the organised antichrist atheistic religion bringing further difficulties into the equation. There are many people giving testimony of having died and returning from heaven and some from hell. I was taught when a person dies they are conscious of nothing and that is true but these testimonies have given a different dimention to this.

If these testimonies are true and I am inclind to beleive they are, when we die it is eternal light with our Creator or eternal darkness with Satan outwith times dimention and our worlds consciousnes. It is a higher, superior reality or a darker denser reality. This makes me realise how serious it is to preach and save people from their destiny if in opposition or in ignorance of God and Christ.

When Jesus returns we are to be found without spot from the world. James 1:27-2:26 For whoever observes all the Law but makes a false step in one point, he has become an offender against them all.

We need to learn, know, obey and teach God's commandments so that blood guilt will not come on us if people are not saved who could be saved. In Ezekiel chapter 3 God instructs the prophet to warn others of their coming doom and if he failed to do that bloodguilt would come on him. Paul solemly charges Christians to preach the word urgently and diligently even although people have turned away from listening. 2 Timothy chapter 4. It is my belief that no earthly organised religion comes up to the standard taught by Jesus and the apostles. Even in those days the truth was being corrupted so it is no wonder we have false prophets, false teachings and false teachers. That is why God's word from the scriptures is important. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The theme that is written through the whole bible is obediece. By obedience Abraham was judged righteous. When the Jewish nations were obedient they prospered. If our nations would turn from being warring nations and learned to love others as Jesus commanded they would prosper. But they have become aggressors and we should not support them. Having said that this is the last days and Satan will have us sifted as wheat.

"Address your disagreement with the Sword of Truth in order to negate what I am saying and destroy my “false” concepts."

I too disagree with your words. You say to disagree with the Sword of Truth. Read the parable in Matt. 25: 1-13. There were indeed 10 virgins. Five of them were foolish and ran out of oil and had to buy more. While they were gone, the wise virgins were let in when the bridegroom opened the door. When the five foolish ones returned, they knocked, but wouldn't be let in.

You said ALL the virgins fell asleep. Which is true, but you forgot to mention the result of the foolish versus the wise. I feel that you too have fell asleep and couldn't wake up. I am sorry, but you got left out of the grooms party and maybe are angry about it. Open your heart and quit being so contentious about God's work. A word of Prophesy--You don't have to police the world. God is doing that on His terms. Your place is to know Him and abide with Him and follow God's commandment: To love the Lord your God with all you mind, heart, soul, and strength, and to love your neighbor. My peace be with you.

Actually a little child will assume that things do pop up from nowhere. Until recently adults used to assume that living things popped up from nowhere (spontaneous generation). This assumption was disproved by empirical experiment. Also children learn that laws are consistent and often outgrow the idea of magical (or spiritual) causes. Do not confuse cause with Causer.

Perry

I note that this discussion hardly addressed the issue at hand.

A miracle can describe either an improbable event or a divine (supernatural) intervention.

The first happens commonly and is not a real miracle but simply poetic language. Often it is assumed that therefore "real" miracles can occur.

If someone feels they observed or experienced a healing or remission of illness they easily assume it is a miracle. In the Kathryn Kuhlman book, a remission of illness is assumed to be of God without honestly considering other natural (eg. placebo) possibilities. The two most prominent healings in my local pentacostal church are both universally believed. I know both people recipients and their inside stories. I do not doubt their sincerity but do not believe either miracle is divine. Similarly I doubt any anecdote that you quote above.

You mockingly mention the question of "why doesn't God heal amputees? Stated respectfully this argument assumes that all supposed healings are misunderstood and have natural causes. They cannot occur naturally so they are never claimed. Of course rare anecdotes or (only) one document dated 1640 is hardly convincing unless you are sitting in a church full of believers.

Your reference to "atheistic jingoism" and "spitting anger and venom" is bordering on defying your own rule of keeping the debate polite. Your P.S. is intimidating people from asking this genuine question. This is good persuasion but bad logic.

In my christian days, I remember praying for healing for friends, who usually recovered from their headaches or flus. Still I wondered if these things would have passed anyway. You know the feeling.

Perry, When I was young I read a book about some children in England who regularly saw faeries in their garden. Written as reliable, with photos and all, I supposed it was true. While the children have long admitted that it was all an attention grabbing trick (the faeries were paper cutouts), this story is still taught and believed by millions of new agers. Better evidence than anecdotes in publications is needed. The Bible says it is foolish to not believe in God, I would disagree.

My suspicion is that true miracles didn't stop happening, they never started.

Here is the question; "If God exists, why won't he prove himself?"

All this debate about God. Even a little child knows that things
don't just drop out of the sky,or spontaneously sprout from the ground or just pop up from nowhere.
When things happen there is always a cause or 'Causer'. Hence
even a baby will look around for a causative agent.

Keep looking

There seems to be a lot of personal opinions given here and a great deal of stock placed in subjective experience. If you want to see what the BIBLE says concerning the matter, I invite you to read the following article:

The most preposterous biblical statements for those unacquainted with the intricacies of textual analysis lies in the category of miracles. For millions of people the whole idea of sticks turning into serpents (Exod. 7:10), a serpent and a donkey talking (Gen. 3:4-5 and Num. 22:28-30), iron floating (2 Kings 6:5-6), a woman turning into a pillar of salt (Gen. 19:26), the sun standing still (Josh. 10:13), and people rising from the dead (Matt. 27:52), for example, are as far from the realm of possibility as black is from white. Little do these realise that their rejection of miracles is simultaneously a rejection of the validity of the Bible itself. If all miracles were excluded from the Bible, the book would be dealt a crushing blow from which recovery would be impossible. As apologist William Arndt says on page 26 in "Bible Difficulties," "If we take everything miraculous out of the Bible, how little will there be left."
The entire universe is governed by Law. The gradual development of species in all the kingdoms of Nature works by uniform laws. This is admitted, and the law enforced far more strictly in Esoteric than in modern Science. Science rejects every claim to the "miraculous," and accepts nothing outside the uniform and immutable laws of nature. The world turns on its axis, the earth rotates round the sun, climates change from spring to winter, etc., all in strict accordance with nature's Laws. Apparent miracle is but absence of knowledge about man's inner, hidden powers. In the East such "miracle" men abound in the thousands, and none of them has any connection with Christ.

Willie,

What you are experiencing is common with many others. You might ask yourself this question: Would you have come to this site and posted your request if not for the the Holy Spirit?

I believe the Holy Spirit is calling you back out of the wilderness and into a deeper relationship with Christ. Every denomination has problems but every denomination is made up of people and those people are God's children - just as you are. We forgive others as Christ forgives us. You might also want to recognize that the enemy will try to keep you away from Christ, especially as you draw nearer to Him. Cling to God and He will help you through this:

"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
